About NAFCC project:
The National Adaptation Fund for Climate Change (NAFCC) is a flagship initiative of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), Government of India, launched in 2015. The NAFCC Project“Conserve water through the management of run-off in the river basin to reduce vulnerability and enhance resilience for traditional livelihood in Nuapada under National Adaptation Fund for Climate Change” was sanctioned to Govt. of Odisha during 16 December 2015.
Aims:
This project aims to reduce vulnerability and enhance resilience for traditional livelihood in Nuapada district by restoring a hill stream in Jonk river basin through constructing water harvesting structures i.e. check-dams to conserve water through the management of run-off.
Project Location:
The project is located in Jonk river basin where several hill springs feed in have become defunct over the years and it is amatter of concern. These are non-perennial streams and over the years have been suffering due tovagaries of monsoon.
Project area neat to the convergence point of Kharakharanala of Nuapada District, with the river Jonk at the border area of Chhattisgarh and Odisha covering8 villages named Budhipalli, Palsabhadar, Porkod, Amlidadar, Bhusudi, Bhainsatal,
Boloda and Jangulaunder three Gram panchayats named Parkod, Budhipalli and Bhaisatal of Nuapada district.
